2 Signal Generation <strong>Software</strong> R&S <strong>WinIQSIM2</strong><br />

R&S <strong>WinIQSIM2</strong> permits calculation of I and Q baseband signals on a Windows PC<br />

system. It combines the advantages and functionalities of the well known previous version<br />

of R&S WinIQSIM with the firmware of the R&S SMU/SMATE vector signal generator<br />

family.<br />

Among R&S <strong>WinIQSIM2</strong>’ functions are single-carrier modulation, the generation of multi<br />

carrier, W-CDMA and other 3rd Generation signals. Future digital standards will be supported<br />

as well.<br />

The look-and-feel of R&S <strong>WinIQSIM2</strong>, especially the block diagram, is based on the R&S<br />

SMU firmware. So users of R&S SMU vector signal generators can easily get used to the<br />

handling and behavior of this software. Other users will find an easy approach as well,<br />

since the software offers a high grade of self-explanation by means of a logically structured<br />

signal flow diagram and menus.<br />

The whole process of signal configuration can be controlled via the block diagram. The<br />

current status of signal configuration and active interfering components can be seen at<br />

a glance.<br />

Comprehensive graphic display modes in the time and frequency domain, e.g., I(t) and<br />

q(t), vector diagram or spectrum, allow simulation and analysis of characteristics as early<br />

as in the design phase of new digital communications systems.<br />

All in all, R&S <strong>WinIQSIM2</strong> is an indispensable application for anyone engaged in stateof-the-art<br />

digital modulation.<br />
