5.7.4 Graphical Representation of Waveforms
There are two ways of zooming into a representation for measurement:
●
●
By mouse
By value entry
Zooming into a representation by mouse
1. To zoom into a displayed part of a waveform, position the mouse cursor in the top
left-hand corner of the graph area to be zoomed.
2. Click the left mouse key and hold it down.
The mouse cursor will change its shape to a cross-hair.
3. Move the mouse cursor to the bottom right-hand corner of the section to be zoomed.
While you move the cursor, a dotted rectangular frame will be drawn between the
start point and the current cursor position. The frame marks the area to be zoomed.
4. When the mouse has arrived at the end of the area to be zoomed, i.e. when the whole
area is within the red frame, release the left mouse key.
The selected area is shown expanded.
Zooming into a representation by value entry
Directly beneath the graphics area, the scaling section with "Scale X-Axis" group box and
"Scale Y-Axis" group box is located. The behavior for X- and Y-axis is identical. For that
reason, the function is explained only once.
► In the "Scale X-Axis" group box, in the "Mode" combo box, there are two options for
scaling of modes:
a) "Auto"
If "Auto" is selected, the scaling works automatically and all entry fields are inactive.
Only the unit of the values which will adapt in the gray entry fields can be
selected. The automatic scaling for the X-axis takes the values of the Viewport;
the Y-axis scaling is calculated from the maximum and minimum value of the
samples displayed.
b) "Manual"
If "Manual" is selected, the scaling is fully adjustable by the user. The area that
is to be zoomed is set by the "Min" and "Max" values. The "Range" value is then
adapted. As in "Viewport", you can as well set the "Min" and the "Range" value.
The "Max" value is adapted then.
By means of the "Unit" combo box, the unit of the values can be changed again,
the values are converted automatically.
Tip: The scaling values can never be higher or lower than the scaling values set under
"Viewport".
