Selecting an Instrument in a Sig Gen Block
► Select "Main window > Sig Gen block" and select an instrument form the combo box.
The list contains the alias names of the defined instruments.
In the "ARB Sig Gen" block, only ARB instruments are listed, in the "Vec Sig Gen" block
only vector signal generators are listed.

Two connection lines symbolize the two possible physical connections between instrument
and the PC with R&S WinIQSIM2. The lines are labeled with "LAN" and "Remote
Control" (remote control connection via VISA). If SCPI via LAN is used, only one physical
line is indicated.
If the instrument is not responding on the corresponding connection, the line will be
crossed out. The instrument is offline.
For signal calculation, it is not necessary that an instrument is connected. The signal
calculation can be performed for a dummy instrument (offline) and the waveform can later
be transmitted to an instrument (online). However, keep in mind, that the general instrument
settings affect various functions, e.g., the maximum size of the file the waveform is
stored in. Therefore, it is important that the calculation is performed for exactly the instrument
which will later be the destination for the signal.
Configuring Instrument Related Issues
► To configure the signal generation, in the "Sig Gen Block", click the "Config" button.
A menu opens and the following options for configuring the signal generation are
displayed:
