Getting Started
Signal Configuration Examples
In case of crossed lines, the connection has to be established before the waveform can
be transmitted to the instrument.
The prerequisites for a successful connection to the instrument are:

Instrument is switched on
Instrument accessible either via LAN, GPIB, or USB
LAN connection is enabled in the instrument's operating system
Firewall is off in the instrument's operating system
By default, the firewall is on and LAN connection is disabled, so you have to change the
settings.
There are two ways to change the settings:

When starting up the R&S AFQ
Via Control Panel of the instrument's operating system
To change the settings when starting up the R&S AFQ:
1. Switch off the R&S AFQ, and switch it on again.
2. When during startup the status LEDs on the R&S AFQ's front panel start to flash
counterclockwise, push the TRIGGER button of the R&S AFQ.
This disables the firewall and enables Remote Desktop of the R&S AFQ's operating
system.
When you connect to the instrument via Remote Desktop, you are asked if you want
to either permanently disable the firewall and enable the Remote Desktop or for the
current session only.
Now the R&S AFQ is ready to play and the waveform can be created.
To disable the firewall of the R&S AFQ via Control Panel:
1. Select "Start > Control Panel > Windows Firewall".
The Windows Firewall dialog opens.
2. On the "General" tab, activate Off (not recommended).
3. Click OK.
The Windows Firewall is disabled.
To enable Remote Desktop of the R&S AFQ via Control Panel:
1. Select "Start > Control Panel > System".
The "System Properties" dialog opens.
