Getting Started
Signal Configuration Examples
4.3.1 Configuring an Instrument
There are two options:
●
●
No instrument has been created yet.
It is necessary to create and select an instrument before signal generation is possible.
A dummy instrument might be created.
An instrument has already been created and selected.
Continue in chapter 4.3.3, "Generating the Waveform", on page 19.
1. Connect the instrument (in this example an R&S AFQ100A with option B10) via LAN
interface and switch it on.
2. Open the Configure Instruments dialog by selecting "Transmission > Instruments".
The "Configure Instruments" dialog opens.
In this dialog, you create the instrument or create a dummy instrument and configure
the connection to the selected instrument.
R&S WinIQSIM2 allows you to scan the LAN, GPIB, or USB interfaces for connected
instruments. Instruments found during the scan are listed in the list "Available Instruments"
and can be selected for configuration.
3. Click the "Scan" button to scan the network for instruments.
All instruments found in the network as well as instruments connected via the GPIB
or USB interfaces are displayed in the "Available Instruments" list. R&S WinIQSIM2
obtains all information for connecting to the instrument, so further configuration is not
necessary but can be performed via the "Edit" button, if desired.
