R&S ® WinIQSIM2 Getting Started Signal Configuration Examples Tip: R&S WinIQSIM2 does not clear the list "Available Instruments" before a scan. Any instruments found during a scan will be added to the list. If the instrument of your choice is in the "Available Instruments" list, close the dialog. Now the R&S AFQ is available for selection in the "Arb Sig Gen" block. If the instrument of your choice is not displayed in the "Available Instruments" list, check if the following prerequisites are fulfilled, and scan for the instrument again: ● ● ● Is the instrument switched on? Is the instrument accessible via LAN, GPIB, or USB? Is the firewall of the instrument's operating system deactivated? For more information, see the following sections: ● chapter 4.3.2, "Selecting an Instrument", on page 18 ● chapter 4.3.6, "Transmitting the Signal to the R&S AFQ", on page 23 4.3.2 Selecting an Instrument Waveform calculation depends on the instrument settings, so before you can create the waveform, the instruments has to be selected first. For signal calculation, it is not necessary that an instrument is connected. The signal calculation can be performed for a dummy instrument (offline), but even this dummy instrument has to be selected before waveform calculation. The instrument has to be configured before it can be selected. For configuring the instrument, see chapter 4.3.1, "Configuring an Instrument", on page 17. ► In the "Main" window, in the "Arb Sig Gen" block, select the R&S AFQ from the combo box. The prerequisites for waveform calculation are fulfilled. 4.3.3 Generating the Waveform The example task is to create a 16-QAM encoded waveform. The data consists of a sequence length of 511 samples of a pseudo random binary sequence (shift register length: 9 Bits). The symbol rate is set at 1 ksym/s. A root cosine filter is used. 1.
