The Obstacles Encountered In Teaching Ma<strong>the</strong>matics For Boys<br />

And Girles At Second Grade Elementary School<br />

ABSTRACT: The purpose <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> study was to determine <strong>the</strong> critical<br />

obstacles that hinder ma<strong>the</strong>matics teaching for boys and girls at<br />

elementary school, which are related to three factors, student's and<br />

girl's textbook; male and female teacher's book; and ma<strong>the</strong>matics<br />

instruction.<br />

The results reveled that <strong>the</strong>re was a number <strong>of</strong> hindrance<br />

related to <strong>the</strong> three factors. The sample <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> study consisted <strong>of</strong> (29)<br />

male and (33) female middle school ma<strong>the</strong>matics teachers. Results<br />

also showed that <strong>the</strong>re exist significant difference at <strong>the</strong> (0.05) level<br />

between <strong>the</strong> perception <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> male and female teachers concerning<br />

<strong>the</strong> obstacles related to <strong>the</strong> boy's and girl's student's textbook. The<br />

results have also reveled that <strong>the</strong>re were no significant differences at<br />

<strong>the</strong> (0.05) level between <strong>the</strong> perception <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> male and female<br />

teachers concerning <strong>the</strong> obstacles related to <strong>the</strong> techer's book and<br />

ma<strong>the</strong>matics instruction.<br />

The results showed that <strong>the</strong>re were no significant differences at<br />

<strong>the</strong> (0.05) level between <strong>the</strong> perception <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> male and female<br />

teachers concerning <strong>the</strong> obstacles, related to <strong>the</strong> three factors,<br />

according to <strong>the</strong> number <strong>of</strong> years <strong>of</strong> teaching experience, and<br />

according to <strong>the</strong> type <strong>of</strong> school building (governmental, rental).21<br />

Results also showed that <strong>the</strong>re were no significant differences at <strong>the</strong><br />

(0.05) level between <strong>the</strong> perception <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> male and female teachers<br />

concerning <strong>the</strong> obstacles related to <strong>the</strong> three factors according, to <strong>the</strong><br />

number <strong>of</strong> years <strong>of</strong> teaching experience.
