Startup and Familiarization<br />

This section shows you how to start the instrument and become familiar with the keypad and<br />

display by demonstrating the top level menu structure.<br />

To begin, connect the sample probe (electrical and sample line connections) to the appropriate<br />

receptacles on the <strong>TVA</strong>-<strong>1000B</strong>, calibrate the instrument per the procedure beginning on<br />

page 25, and then follow the procedure described on the next page.<br />

NOTE: If the unit is on but not yet set up/configured, it uses factory default values.<br />

To make the instrument function with your specific parameters, follow the setup procedures<br />

described under Display Menus in this manual.<br />

The procedure below is a quick start guide for starting up your unit. We strongly recommend<br />

that you read the entire manual before using the analyzer for its intended operations.<br />

Quick Start Procedure<br />

Before starting the unit, perform the following steps:<br />

1. Charge battery.<br />

2. Connect sample probe.<br />

3. Fill/install hydrogen tank (FID versions).<br />

4. Open the hydrogen valve (FID versions).<br />

To start the unit, execute the following procedure:<br />

1. Press ON.<br />

2. Press CONTROL.<br />

3. Press 3 to ignite.<br />

4. Press 2 = Setup.<br />

5. Press 1 = Calibrate<br />

6. Press 2 = Span Concentration.<br />

7. Enter Span Concentration for calibration gas being used.<br />

NOTE: If PID only, enter concentration of isobutylene. If FID only, enter concentration<br />

of methane. If dual, enter concentration of both gases.<br />

8. Press 3 = Zero.<br />

9. Press 1 = Both.<br />

10. Challenge analyzer with zero gas sample.<br />

11. Press ENTER = start.<br />
