Maintenance<br />

Removable, Renewable Parts<br />

WARNING: Parts replacement and maintenance should not be performed in areas<br />

classified as hazardous due to presence of flammable gases or vapors. Opening of the<br />

analyzer is not recommended under any circumstances, due to the intrinsic safety rating<br />

of the analyzer. Violation of this policy could void the warranty of this product.<br />

(Extended Service Plans are available; contact Foxboro Authorized Service for further<br />

information.)<br />

Foxboro suggests that you return the entire instrument to the factory or an authorized service<br />

center once a year for cleaning, testing, and calibration. Opening the <strong>TVA</strong>-<strong>1000B</strong> instrument<br />

case could void the warranty.<br />

From time to time, you must remove and renew several components of the <strong>TVA</strong>-<strong>1000B</strong> analyzer.<br />

Some components may be replaced as normal maintenance functions performed by<br />

operating personnel. Other components, however, should be replaced only by personnel thoroughly<br />

trained and familiar with the analyzer instrument and its applications.<br />

The components that may be maintained or replaced by operating personnel as part of normal<br />

operation are:<br />

1. Battery – you may charge the battery in or out of the instrument or replace it with<br />

a charged battery.<br />

2. Hydrogen Tank – remove the tank to refill it.<br />

3. PID Cartridge – remove and clean frequently. Replace when needed.<br />

4. FID Cartridge – remove and clean frequently. Replace when needed.<br />

5. Close Area Sampler – replace if probe tip is clogged or damaged.<br />

6. Filter Cups (in the sampler assembly and sidepack assembly) – clean/replace frequently.<br />

7. Optional Water Trap – replace membrane or membrane support if worn or damaged.<br />

8. Optional Charcoal Filter Adapter – replace charcoal frequently.<br />

9. Sample Line Tubing – replace when dirty.<br />

10. Sample Line Fitting – replace if damaged.<br />

11. FID End Cap and Flame Arrestor – remove and clean frequently. Replace when<br />

required.<br />

12. FID Cavity – clean periodically.<br />

13. PID cavity – clean periodically.<br />
