CITY OF NORMANART IN PUBLIC PLACES FUNDBUDGETHIGHLIGHTSBackgroundThe Art in Public Places Fund is a Special Revenue Fund established to account for revenuederived from citizen donations as a means to fund the acquisition <strong>of</strong> works <strong>of</strong> art by the <strong>City</strong> <strong>of</strong><strong>Norman</strong> and to provide for the maintenance and repair <strong>of</strong> the works <strong>of</strong> art in the collection.On August 28, 2007, <strong>City</strong> Council passed Ordinance O-0708-5 that established the PublicArts Board and the Art in Public Places Fund. The ordinance also set up the mechanism by which<strong>City</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Norman</strong> utility service customers can opt to donate money to the Art in Public Places Fundby including an additional amount <strong>of</strong> money in their payment.The Public Arts Board will report to the <strong>Norman</strong> Arts Council, who will be charged withexpending monies in the Art in Public Places Fund.<strong>FYE</strong> <strong>14</strong> <strong>Budget</strong><strong>FYE</strong> <strong>14</strong> projected revenues are $12,000. The first public art partially funded by the Art InPublic Places Fund is a sculpture, “Indian Grass,” in the new East Main Street roundabout (seepicture below). The fund has collected $42,935 in contributions since the beginning <strong>of</strong> <strong>FYE</strong> 08.ANNUAL BUDGET78
