ARCS enables collection andhandling of domestic refuse in a totally concealed environment where the refuse isautomatically extracted by vacuum to the centralised containers to minimisenuisance caused by spills and smell. The system is one of the largest ARCS inHong Kong and can handle a capacity of about 34 tonnes of refuse per day with 2to 3 nos. of 10-tonne capacity containers for daily storage.6.3 Economical Aspects6.3.1 Continuous Provision of Basic FacilitiesIn order to maintain basic facilities such as retail premises, car parking andtransport facilities for the residents and the public in the vicinity, HousingDepartment had made use of the site planned for a district open site adjacent tophase 1 to provide a temporary market and carparking to maintain every-day281
