River water’s temperature isrelative stability all the year round. In winter, the water temperature is higher than ambient air, but insummer, the temperature is lower. So it will be a quite good cooling and heating source for aircondition, and it can save energy, decease air pollution and CO2 discharge effectively.This paper will introduce a large business centre’s air-condition engineering in Chongqing. Bycomparing the process using Jialing river water as source of district cooling and heating with that oftraditional air-condition, the paper will analyze the COP of air conditioning unit at different watertemperature, system’s operation, energy conservation, and the impact to environment. Studyindicates that because use river water, the energy consumption of the project can save nearly 33%every year,so it has great promotion effect.Keywords: river water source heat pump, district cooling and heating, COP, energy conservation1. INTRODUCTIONAs the development of energy-saving technologies, the feasibility of using riverwater as a hot or cold source in the air-conditioning system has been partly provedin some cases. In summer, the river’s temperature is lower than that of ambient air,while in winter, it is higher. It is due to that the river’s temperature is relativelystable, utilization of the river water as the source of air-conditioning system willhave a significant impact on energy efficiency.Chongqing is a typical city with hot summer and cold winter. A large number ofelectricity consumption due to heating and cooling results in a tensional powersupply. Consequently, energy conservation has become an urgent problem.Meanwhile, the richness of surface water, Yangtze River and Jialing River, makesthe usage of hot and cold resources storage in river prospective in Chongqing.52
