The HA will line uprepresentatives from other government departments, Non GovernmentOrganizations and volunteers to form an ‘Elderly Removal Working Group’ toassist the needy elderly in their removal. Special cases will be referred to theSocial Welfare Department for provision of counselling service or otherassistances required by the affected tenants.Figure8: Volunteers assisting elderly removalLiaison meetings with District Council members, Mutual Aid Committees, localleaders and concern groups are regularly held from time to time with a view toinform them of the redevelopment arrangement for domestic and non-domestictenants for each CRP operations.2.6 Achievements of the CRPAfter 20 years of redevelopment, the CRP has achieved its objectives of clearingall the oldest public rental housing estates. It also enables large families to splitinto smaller units and rehoused within the same locality. Family ties andrelationship with neighbours can be maintained.The quality of public housing has also improved significantly throughredevelopment. The newly redeveloped estates are all self-contained withadequate local open space, car parking spaces, commercial, social welfare andcommunity facilities. Tenants can enjoy better quality of living environment.373
