PURPOSE <strong>OF</strong> RESEARCHFirst, the purpose of this study is to identify correlations between the physicalquality of semi-public space (representative spaces of super high-rise mixed-usehousing) and individual residents’ well-being. Second, the research aims tocompare the well-being of residents in super high-rise mixed-use housing andordinary multi-family housing with a view to verifying correlations between thephysical differences in semi-public spaces and residents’ well-being. To verify therelation between semi-public spaces and individual residents’ well-being in superhigh-rise mixed-use housing, the research presents a comparative analysis of superhigh-rise mixed-use housing and ordinary multi-family housing with a view toverifying hypotheses, and to architectural status of semi-public spaces in modernurban residences, and environmental characteristics.5. METHODOLOGIES<strong>The</strong> research is divided into five steps as follows.First, well-being indicators and physical quality indicators of residentialenvironments are derived. Well-being indicators suitable to domestic residentialenvironments are selected by analyzing diverse domestic and overseas referencesrelating to well-being and quality of life: health, interaction with neighbors, leisure,safety/security and outdoor amenity. Appropriate physical quality indicators ofsemi-public spaces in super high-rise mixed-use housing complexes, drawn on areview of existing residential environmental indicators and super high-risehousing-related references: comfortability, size, accessibility and diversity.552
