There are a variety of factors that affect the adoption of crop diversification. Theseare the biotic (soil and kind of crop), environmental (climate), socio-economic andinstitutional factors. For emphasis, the socio-economic and institutional factors werediscussed more than the other two.Four important government policies that directly or indirectly affect cropdiversification were presented. These are, pricing policy, tax and tariff policies, policy onpublic expenditure, and agrarian reform.Past, present and future programmes and projects on crop diversification are,likewise, presented.
