7.5.1.4 Years Since Last Dental Visit
In 2007, between 50% and 60% of those aged less than 75 years had visited a dentist in
the last year, but less than 40% for those aged 75+ years (Figure 43). The underlying
data are given in the APPENDIX on page 836. However, in the main survey and the
Black and Minority Ethnic (BME) Health and Lifestyle Surveys 2007 combined, the
percentage who had never attended a dentist was high. Between one-third and twothirds
of refugees, asylum seekers and failed asylum seekers had never attended the
dentist, and around 20% of those who were students or were working in the UK longterm
(Figure 44). The underlying data are given in the APPENDIX on page 836.
