*The numbers differ from those quoted in Release 2 of the JSNA Foundation Profile as these
figures were updated by the University of Glasgow when they estimated the number of drug
users for 2008/2009. Confidence intervals are also not available for the prevalence estimates.
Figure 145 gives the prevalence estimates by age for 2008/2009 per 1,000 population
(with 95% confidence intervals). The underlying data for this figure is given in the
APPENDIX on page 885. The rates of problem drug users in Hull are statistically
significantly higher than both the Yorkshire and Humber region and England for all three
age groups. However, given the increased deprivation in Hull compared to the average
for the Yorkshire and Humber region and England, it is not surprising that this is the
case.
