ไม้ เป็นวัสดุหลักในงานสถาปัตยกรรมมาทุกยุคทุกสมัย และสามารถ<br />
พบเห็นในทุก ๆ แห่งทั่วโลก ในปัจจุบันเรายิ่งได้เห็นความพยายามใน<br />
การพัฒนาสถาปัตยกรรมไม้ที่ท้าทายมากขึ้น ด้วยคุณสมบัติของไม้ที่<br />
สัมพันธ์กับแนวคิดเกี่ยวกับวัสดุคาร์บอนต่ำา และตอบโจทย์การออกแบบ<br />
อาคารที่ใช้พลังงานเป็นศูนย์ (zero energy building) โดยเฉพาะในช่วง<br />
ทศวรรษที่ผ่านมา ความสามารถในการสร้างอาคารด้วยไม้ที่ยิ่งสูงขึ้น<br />
เกิด Plyscrapers ขึ้นมากมายในประเทศแถบยุโรป และอเมริกาเหนือ<br />
อย่าง The Ascent อาคารพักอาศัย 25 ชั้น ที่ความสูง 86.6 เมตร ใน<br />
เมือง Milwaukee สหรัฐอเมริกา นับว่าเป็นอาคารไม้ที่สูงที่สุดในปัจจุบัน<br />

Nanyang Technological University สิงค์โปร์ และคาดว่าในปี 2025<br />
เราคงจะได้เห็นการสร้างเมืองแห่งไม้ “Wooden City” เป็นแห่งแรกใน<br />
สต็อกโฮล์ม เมืองหลวงแห่งสวีเดน ด้วยขนาดพื้นที่รวมกว่า 250,000<br />
ตารางเมตร อีกด้วย<br />

งานศิลปะโดยสถาปนิกจาก Sumphat และงานบ้านพักอาศัยของ<br />
Yangnar Studio รวมถึงผลงานออกแบบโบสถ์โดยสถาปนิกชาวสเปน<br />
Paco Garcia Moro ในจังหวัดตาก ส่วนใน <strong>ASA</strong> Professional พบกับ<br />
บทสัมภาษณ์แนวทางการทำางานของ Sher Maker และ 1922 Architects<br />

คิดสร้างสรรค์ในงานสถาปัตยกรรมไม้ เท่าทันกับความเปลี่ยนแปลงของ<br />
ยุคสมัย และความต้องการของมนุษย์อยู่เสมอ<br />
Throughout the centuries, wood has been a primary component<br />
of architecture. and can be observed on every continent.<br />
Today, there are a growing number of endeavors to create<br />
challenging wooden architecture. Wood’s properties are<br />
related to the concept of low-carbon materials and respond<br />
well to the need for designing zero-energy buildings. With the<br />
increased ability to build with wood, many more plyscrapers<br />
have been constructed in many European and North American<br />
countries over the past decade, including The Ascent, a 25-<br />
story residential building with a height of 86.6 meters in<br />
Milwaukee, Wisconsin, which is currently the tallest wooden<br />
building, and Gaia, the largest six-story wooden classroom<br />
building in Asia. Singapore’s Nanyang Technological University<br />
has recently inaugurated a 43,500-square-meter campus<br />
expansion. It is anticipated that the first “Wooden City”<br />
will be constructed in Stockholm, the capital of Sweden, in<br />
2025, covering an area of more than 250,000 square meters.<br />
This issue of <strong>ASA</strong> Journal, Wood is Good, features contemporary<br />
wooden architecture projects by Thai architects, such<br />
as a hotel design by Habita Architects, a meditation center<br />
by DBALP, an art exhibition building by Sumphat, and a<br />
residential project by Yangnar Studio, as well as a church<br />
design by Spanish architect Paco Garcia Moro in Tak Province.<br />
There is an article in <strong>ASA</strong> Professional about Sher Maker<br />
and 1922 Architects, two Northern studios whose projects<br />
involved a great deal of wooden architecture with creative<br />
techniques and intriguing materials. It is distinct. There is<br />
a special article by experts in wooden architecture Suntan<br />
Viengsima and Sunsuda Jiemjit that contains design work<br />
and writings that continually disseminate knowledge to the<br />
public.<br />
In addition to being designed with materials and concepts<br />
that respond to the effects of climate change that we will<br />
increasingly face in the future, wooden architecture is still considered<br />
to create new skills and knowledge in woodworking<br />
that both build upon and carry forward the traditional wisdom,<br />
incorporating new things from various contexts and cultures.<br />
Creating knowledge, craftsmanship, and originality in wooden<br />
architecture is essential for keeping up with changing times<br />
and human needs.
