(How do we live together?)
One Health
life cycle of bees and the interconnectedness
between insects and other little creatures within the
broader ecosystem. The Hive at Kew exemplifies
the ideas of non-human sociology that emerged as
a focal point for sociologists throughout the 1970s,
marking a departure from the conventional anthropocentric
perspective that positioned humans as the
central object of study. This field of research examines
the behavioral patterns and characteristics of
animals in relation to human behavior. The concepts
of non-human sociology serve as a foundational
framework that stimulates scholarly inquiry into the
interconnections between living organisms within
the natural system and the broader global society,
expanding beyond the scope of anthropology as a
standalone discipline.
In the second section, Dr. Apiradee provided
examples of the exhibition’s works and the design
of the Thai Pavilion, for which she and Asst. Prof.
Boonserm Premthada served as curators. The
exhibition’s theme was “How do we live together?
This exhibition at the 2021 Venice Biennale was
intended to showcase the Ban Khon-Elephant
House of Boonserm, which examines the possibility
of establishing an environment that fosters coexistence
and interdependence between humans
and elephants. This architectural and economic
relationship is explicitly examined in the context
of Thailand, specifically in Ta Klang Village, Tha
Tum District, Surin Province. In addition, the study
validates the viability of the One Health principle,
which refers to the interdependencies between the
health of animals, humans, and other organisms
within an ecosystem.
