Forest areas around the world are being
cut down every year. To deal with the
global deforestation crisis, Japanese
design studio Studio Yumakano is taking
organic waste and creating its own
wood-like replacement. The ForestBank
material collection is created using new
materials. which consists of tree debris
and leaves
ForestBank investigates the worth of
complete forests, not just lumber. It
concentrates on discovering the various
values in entire forests by combining
small trees, foliage, bark, seeds, soil,
and other materials deemed useless for
construction or furniture production with
a reactive mineral base and water-based
acrylic resin. These materials have patterns
that vary depending on the angle
and depth of the cut, producing a variety
as fascinating as wood grain. Season,
terrain, and other forest conditions at
the time of harvest affect the hues of
the harvested materials. The material
can be shaped using conventional wood
working techniques and utilized in numerous
disciplines, including furniture
and interior design.
