4.4 Grounding<br />

1. Turn off power before wiring to minimize the risk of electrical shock.<br />

2. Operation without grounding may cause electrical shock or malfunction.<br />
Connect the ground terminal on the <strong>T1</strong>-<strong>16S</strong> to the system ground.<br />
The optimum method for grounding electronic equipment is to ground it separately<br />
from other high-power systems, and to ground more than one units of electronic<br />
equipment with a single-point ground.<br />
Although the <strong>T1</strong>-<strong>16S</strong> has noise immunity to be used in industrial operating conditions,<br />
grounding is important for safety and reliability.<br />
Check the grounding against the following criteria.<br />
1. The <strong>T1</strong>-<strong>16S</strong> must not become a path for a ground current. A high-frequency current<br />
is particularly harmful.<br />
2. Equalize the ground potentials when the expansion rack or unit is connected.<br />
Ground the <strong>T1</strong>-<strong>16S</strong> and the expansion rack or unit at a single point.<br />
3. Do not connect the ground of the <strong>T1</strong>-<strong>16S</strong> to that of high-power systems.<br />
4. Do not use a ground that has unstable impedance, such as painted screws, or<br />
ground subject to vibration.<br />
The grounding marked terminal (see below) is provided on the <strong>T1</strong>-<strong>16S</strong> basic unit for<br />
grounding purpose.<br />
In case of the expansion rack is connected to the <strong>T1</strong>-<strong>16S</strong>, the rack mounting screw is<br />
used for this purpose.<br />

Mounting panel<br />
• 1.25mm 2 (16 AWG) wire should be used to connect the <strong>T1</strong>-<strong>16S</strong> and the expansion<br />
rack/unit with the enclosure grounding bus bar.<br />
• 100Ω or less to ground is required.<br />
