of this earth / you owe me.« Mit ihren experimentellen,
afrofuturistischen Beats zieht sie das Publikum in ihren
Bann: sun-drunk sound und solar-based Hip-Hop! So
beschreibt sie selbst das Wesen ihrer Musik, die aus dem
Zentrum der Sonne zu kommen scheint – energetisch,
strahlend und hypnotisch.
On her debut album Solarbased Kwing Kaleo Sansaa calls
on black artists around the world to demonstrate greater
self-awareness: »pay my ancestors in cash / pay all my
sistas in cash / original mother / my labour is holy / mother
of this earth / you owe me«. She captivates audiences with
her experimental, Afro-futurist beats: sun-drunk sound and
solar based hip-hop! She describes her own music as if it
comes directly from the centre of the sun – a sound that is
energetic, radiant and hypnotic.

PERERA ELSEWHERE
Perera Elsewhere ist Frontfrau, Produzentin, Songwriterin
und DJ. Sie kommt aus London, lebt in Berlin und geistert
durch die Popavantgarde. Beeinflusst von der Ravekultur
der 1990er Jahre, dem Trompetenunterricht zu Schulzeiten,
einer ausgeprägten Phase als MC mit ihrer Band
Jahcoozi und Experimenten mit DIY-Elektronik, hat sie sich
Stück für Stück ein eigenes musikalisches Territorium
angelegt. Wo das liegt? Weder im Zentrum noch in der
Peripherie. Ihr »elsewhere« ist eine extraterrestrische
Klanglandschaft: grobkörnige Sounds, verzerrte Stimmen
oder verformte Trompeteneinsätze neben flirrenden
Synthe sizern. »Ich mache keine Konzeptalben und folge
keiner Formel. Aber beim Schreiben und Musizieren geht
alles durch mich hindurch, was in der Welt um uns herum
passiert. Meine Songs sind Reflexionen über das Leben
und die Realität – und die Gründe, warum ich dem entkommen

Perera Elsewhere is a front woman, producer, song-writer
and DJ. She comes from London, lives in Berlin and drifts
like a ghost through pop’s avant-garde. Influenced by 90s
rave culture, school trumpet lessons, a strong phase as
an MC with her band Jahcoozi and experiments with DIY
electronics, she has gradually established her own musical
territory. Where is this? Neither in the centre, nor
on the periphery. Her »elsewhere« is an extra-terrestrial
soundscape: coarse-grained sounds, distorted voices
and warped trumpet passages alongside whirring synthesisers.
»I don’t write songs with a view to making a concept
album, there’s not really a formulaic approach. But in terms
of the content, it usually stems from all the shit that’s
happening in the world around us. Writing and making
music is how I deal with it, so within the songs there are
reflections on life and reality, and the reasons I want to
