Expedient Flood Training (G270.3) to offerings of this<br />
course and may also do a field activity to build a<br />
sandbag wall. If participants will be asked to fill and<br />
place sandbags, they should be told to bring appropriate<br />
clothing.<br />
Selection Criteria: <strong>Federal</strong>, State, Tribal, and local<br />
officials responsible for planning, preparing, and<br />
managing response to floods.<br />
Hurricane Readiness for Coastal<br />
Communities (G363)<br />
This 2-day course is designed to provide participants<br />
the tools needed to help communities along<br />
the coast prepare for and respond to a hurricane<br />
event. Upon completion, the participants will have a<br />
background in understanding advisory products of<br />
the National Weather Service; describe information<br />
from FEMA Hurricane Evacuations studies; describe<br />
the various issues and measures needed in their<br />
jurisdiction for effective decisionmaking; and have<br />
a basic checklist for time-phased actions.<br />
Selection Criteria: The target audience should be<br />
comprised of public and private sector decisionmakers<br />
and managers from coastal communities<br />
who prepare for and respond to hurricane hazards<br />
that threaten their community. A team made up of<br />
officials from police, fire, emergency management,<br />
public works, transportation, voluntary agencies,<br />
business, and the American Red Cross should attend.<br />
Prerequisites:<br />
Required: Completion of IS-324, Community Hurricane<br />
Preparedness.<br />
FEdErAL EmErgENCy mANAgEmENT AgENCy 90<br />
Multi-Hazard <strong>Emergency</strong> Planning for<br />
Schools (G364)<br />
This 2-day course provides schools with the knowledge,<br />
skills, and tools needed to refine or develop<br />
an all-hazards school <strong>Emergency</strong> Operations Plan<br />
(EOP) and to identify how to train and exercise<br />
the school EOP. This course follows the guidance<br />
set forth in the FEMA Comprehensive Preparedness<br />
Guide, CPG 101, for developing an emergency operations<br />
plan and explains how to utilize the National<br />
Incident <strong>Management</strong> System (NIMS) as the foundation<br />
for planning and building partnerships with<br />
outside agencies such as law enforcement, fire, and<br />
emergency management.<br />
In an optional exercise day, this course provides<br />
participants with an opportunity to conduct and<br />
design a tabletop exercise using Homeland Security<br />
Exercise and Evaluation Program (HSEEP) guidelines.<br />
After completing this course, participants will be<br />
able to:<br />
• Refine or develop a school emergency operations<br />
plan (EOP). Throughout the course, the school<br />
will review the existing EOP, determine areas for<br />
improvement, and make changes/updates to the EOP.<br />
• Identify how to train and exercise the EOP.The<br />
school will describe the benefits of training and<br />
exercising the school’s EOP, and identify who needs<br />
to be involved in training and exercising the EOP.<br />
Selection Criteria: Principals, assistant principals, risk<br />
managers, school board members, school safety<br />
coordinators, transportation and food service coordinators,<br />
facility managers/building engineers,<br />
nurses, counselors, public information officers,<br />
teachers, and local first responders.<br />
Prerequisites:<br />
Required: School EOP.<br />
Recommended: Completion of IS-100.SCa (or IS-100.<br />
SC or IS-100), Introduction to the Incident Command System,<br />
ICS-100, for Schools and IS-700 or IS-700.a, National<br />
Incident <strong>Management</strong> System (NIMS), An Introduction.<br />
<strong>Course</strong> Length: 7 or 12 hours
