To take an <strong>EMI</strong> course, applicants must meet the<br />
selection criteria and prerequisites specified for each<br />
course. Participants may not take the same course<br />
more than once.<br />
Enrollment in <strong>EMI</strong> courses is generally limited to U.S. residents;<br />
however, each year a limited number of international<br />
participants are accommodated. (See Foreign<br />
Applicants, page 18)<br />
The NETC is an equal opportunity campus. It does<br />

EnrollmEnt for EmI CoursEs<br />
Participants can apply to <strong>EMI</strong> courses any time up to 5 weeks before the start of the course. For<br />
participants who apply early, acceptance letters will be sent 8 weeks prior to the start of the<br />
course.<br />
Dates for courses can be accessed at www.training.fema.gov/emicourses. The NETC Admissions Office will<br />
review the applications as they are received and notify applicants regarding their status.<br />
Once accepted into a course, participants will receive an acceptance letter with further instructions<br />
regarding transportation and other matters. Arriving at NETC for a class without formal acceptance<br />
from the NETC Admissions Office will result in the participant being sent home.<br />
In an effort to fill <strong>EMI</strong> courses, vacancies will be updated frequently and posted on the <strong>EMI</strong> web site<br />
(www.training.fema.gov/emicourses) and interested personnel may apply. <strong>EMI</strong> will fill vacancies on a firstcome,<br />
first-served basis. (NOTE: for IEMC vacancies by position, consult the IEMC web site at www.<br />
training.fema.gov/emicourses.)<br />

application procedures<br />
The form used to apply to take an <strong>EMI</strong> course is the<br />
General Admissions Application Form (FEMA Form<br />
119-25-1 [formerly FEMA Form 75-5]). A copy of<br />
the form is included at the back of this catalog and<br />
it may be duplicated. Additional forms can be downloaded<br />
from the <strong>EMI</strong> web site (www.training.fema.gov/<br />
apply) or obtained from State and local emergency<br />
management offices, FEMA regional offices, or the<br />
NETC Office of Admissions. The addresses for the<br />
State/local emergency management offices and the<br />
FEMA regional offices are listed at the back of the<br />
catalog. Please fill out all blanks on the application<br />
form or it will be returned.<br />
