mitigation field Operations (E203)<br />

This course provides a healthy learning environment<br />

in which participants acquire management skills and<br />

adopt leadership principles to create and accomplish<br />

the Hazard Mitigation Strategy in a disaster.<br />

Experienced hazard mitigation supervisors for this<br />

course must be nominated by the Regional Cadre<br />

Coordinator and/or Regional Mitigation Division<br />

Director for this training. The course is highly interactive,<br />

encouraging peer discussion across the<br />

Regions.<br />

Selection Criteria: FEMA employees approved by the<br />

Regional Hazard Mitigation Cadre Coordinator.<br />

Prerequisites:<br />

Required: Successful completion of E778, Joint Field<br />

Office (JFO) Middle Managers Training, course exam<br />

and/or DF-128, Introduction to Hazard Mitigation Field<br />

Operations.<br />

Operations training (E206)<br />

This course provides a practical, application-based<br />

learning experience that enables participants to<br />

effectively deliver Hazard Mitigation courses and<br />

workshops to the Hazard Mitigation disaster workforce.<br />

This course is intended only for FEMA Hazard<br />

Mitigation Branch staff identified by their Region<br />

to serve as lead or support instructors for Hazard<br />

Mitigation Branch courses and workshops at disasters.<br />

Hazard Mitigation Branch training coordinators<br />

also are included in the training audience. Ideally,<br />

participants should have completed Introduction to<br />

Hazard Mitigation Field Operations and any other courses<br />

or workshops they expect to conduct or coordinate<br />

at a disaster. This 4 day course is conducted at the<br />

<strong>Emergency</strong> <strong>Management</strong> <strong>Institute</strong> (<strong>EMI</strong>).<br />

Selection Criteria: FEMA employees approved by the<br />

Regional Hazard Mitigation Cadre Coordinator.<br />

Prerequisites:<br />

Required: Successful completion of DF-128,<br />

Introduction to Hazard Mitigation Field Operations.<br />

<strong>Course</strong> Length: 4 days<br />

fundamentals of building science (E312)<br />

This course provides current information on state-ofthe-art<br />

disaster-resistant building science practices.<br />

In addition, this offering has a secondary purpose of<br />

providing updated information based on participant<br />

requests from previous offerings.<br />

Selection Criteria: The audience for this course is<br />

on-call FEMA disaster response staff, known as<br />

Disaster Assistance Employees (Disaster Reservists),<br />

and FEMA Permanent Full-Time (PFT) employees<br />

whose work assignments require disaster-resistant<br />

building science knowledge. Only those participants<br />

nominated by their Regions will be enrolled.<br />

<strong>Course</strong> Length: 2½ days<br />
