Exercise program manager/management<br />

This 2½-day course provides knowledge, skills, and<br />
job aids to assist local, State, and <strong>Federal</strong> personnel<br />
in implementing their roles and responsibilities<br />
as exercise program managers. Work products<br />
developed during the course will be useful for the<br />
participant to develop or upgrade his or her comprehensive<br />
exercise program.<br />
Selection Criteria: State, FEMA regional, other <strong>Federal</strong><br />
agency staff, and local emergency management/<br />
emergency services staff who have the responsibility<br />
to initiate and/or maintain their respective organization’s/jurisdiction’s<br />
overall exercise program.<br />
Prerequisites:<br />
Required: The participant must have substantial<br />
knowledge of emergency management operations<br />
and exercises within his/her organization<br />
and the assigned responsibility to initiate and/<br />
or upgrade the overall comprehensive exercise<br />
program.<br />

Exercise practicum for the master<br />
Exercise practitioner (g138)<br />
This activity consists of a series of self-directed<br />
and negotiated proficiency demonstrations of the<br />
knowledge, skills, and abilities acquired through<br />
the completion of courses. The proficiency demonstrations<br />
are structured in three major areas of<br />
concentration: exercise design and control, exercise<br />
evaluation, and exercise management/program<br />
management. Practicum sponsors will monitor the<br />
completion of 11 major proficiency demonstrations.<br />
In this manner, capabilities gained in classroom<br />
instruction can be applied to actual emergency<br />
management exercises as conducted by local, State,<br />
and <strong>Federal</strong> agencies.<br />
Selection Criteria: State, FEMA regional, other <strong>Federal</strong><br />
agency staff, and local/Tribal emergency management/emergency<br />
services staff who have the<br />
responsibilities related to the design, development,<br />
performance, and evaluation of emergency<br />
management exercises. Applicants must declare their<br />
intention of completing the Continuing Education<br />
Credit (CEC) offerings and earn the Master Exercise<br />
Practitioner title.
