Introductory Alternative Dispute<br />

Resolution (ADR) Advisor Training (E/B717)<br />

This training will provide the knowledge and skills<br />

necessary for ADR Cadre members to fully perform<br />

their ADR functions at a high level. The result will<br />

be a cadre of ADR professionals who are able to<br />

deploy to disaster sites, heighten awareness of the<br />

benefits of ADR, provide conflict coaching, reduce<br />

the number of complaints and conflicts, and create<br />

an atmosphere of open communication, as well as<br />

anticipate and prevent problems.<br />

Selection Criteria: Newly hired FEMA ADR Cadre<br />

members and incumbent ADR Cadre members with<br />

limited field experience. The audience will typically<br />

be Disaster Assistance Employees (Reservists)<br />

who work at temporary field facilities such as Joint<br />

Field Offices, Area Field Offices, Disaster Recovery<br />

Centers, Long-Term Recovery Centers, National<br />

Processing Service Centers, etc.<br />

Required: IS-101, Deployment Basics: <strong>Federal</strong> Disaster<br />

Workforce Readiness.<br />

Advanced ADR Advisor Training—“What<br />

We Are Doing and How To Do It Better”<br />

The goal of this course is to build expertise across<br />

the cadre of Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR)<br />

Advisors. The course will enhance the ability of<br />

cadre members to support the FEMA mission and<br />

increase the recognition of the crucial role of ADR.<br />

The course seeks to deepen and strengthen success<br />

in disaster field operations by exploring the nuances<br />

of embedded practice. An important focus will be<br />

the use of best practices in workplace ADR. The<br />

course will provide participants with a dynamic<br />

and interactive learning experience. It is an annual<br />
