Special Events Contingency Planning for<br />

Public Safety Agencies (IS-15 .b)<br />

This 5-hour web-based course will provide public<br />

safety agency personnel information related to preevent<br />

planning, forming the planning team, event<br />

hazard analysis, and responding to incidents during<br />

special events in their community. Though relevant<br />

special events statutes/ordinances and codes must<br />

be considered by public safety agency personnel<br />

engaged in special event planning, an extensive job<br />

aid manual is included in the course and available<br />

for download on the course web page.<br />

This course presents the underlying principles of<br />

This course provides an overview of responsibilities<br />

in equal employment opportunity (EEO) for FEMA<br />

supervisors and strategies for handling equal rights<br />

issues and potential issues as they arise.<br />

This course recognizes the benefits of diversity in<br />

our workforce and FEMA’s commitment to valuing<br />

diversity of its employees and customers. Each year,<br />

in January, this course will be updated with the new<br />

calendar year information. Required for all FEMA<br />

employees by December 31, 2011, and then one<br />

time every 2 calendar years.<br />

By the end of this course, participants will be able to:<br />

• Define what is meant by diversity.<br />

• Describe how diversity benefits us individually<br />

and collectively.<br />

• State FEMA’s Vision of Diversity.<br />

• Describe the Agency’s commitment to diversity<br />
