IS-870, Dams Sector: Crisis <strong>Management</strong>, and IS-871, Dams<br />

Sector: Security Awareness, are prerequisites for this course<br />

and are available on the Independent Study web site.<br />

Note: Due to the sensitivity of the information provided within<br />

this course, it has been designated as “For Official Use Only” and<br />

is only accessible through the Homeland Security Information<br />

Network–Critical Sectors (HSIN-CS) Dams Portal, which serves<br />

as the primary mechanism with which dam and levee stakeholders<br />

exchange information, both at the “For Official Use Only”<br />

and non-sensitive levels, during steady-state operations. The portal,<br />

managed by the Dams Sector-Specific Agency, promotes effective<br />

information collection and dissemination among sector partners in<br />

<strong>Federal</strong>, State, and local agencies, as well as the private sector. The<br />

portal provides trusted and vetted public and private representatives,<br />

including owners and operators, access to a number of resources,<br />

including training courses.<br />

Those who do not currently have access to the HSIN-CS Dams<br />

Portal must contact the Dams Sector-Specific Agency within the<br />

Office of Infrastructure Protection/U.S. Department of Homeland<br />

Security to request and be considered for access to the training<br />

course.<br />

Introduction to the Interagency Security<br />

Committee (ISC) (IS-890 .a)<br />

This is the first course in the ISC web-based training<br />

series. The purpose of this series of courses is to<br />

provide <strong>Federal</strong> facility security professionals, engineers,<br />

building owners, construction contractors,<br />

architects, and the general public with basic information<br />

pertaining to the ISC and its facility security<br />

standards, processes, and practices.<br />
