This 2-day course provides attorneys with a basic<br />

understanding of FEMA’s statutory and regulatory<br />

emergency management authorities relating<br />

to response operations. This course is designed to<br />

provide introductory knowledge on substantive<br />

topics including disaster declarations; response<br />

operations, including <strong>Federal</strong> agency authorities;<br />

coordination of <strong>Federal</strong> support; mission assignments<br />

and grant assistance for emergency protective<br />

measures; insular area considerations; and records<br />

requests (Freedom of Information Act [FOIA] and<br />

Privacy Act).<br />

Selection Criteria: <strong>Federal</strong>, State, Tribal, and local<br />

government attorneys who provide legal counsel<br />

related to emergency management response<br />
