National Infrastructure Protection Plan<br />
(NIPP) (IS-860 .a)<br />
This course is intended for DHS and other <strong>Federal</strong><br />
staff responsible for implementing the NIPP, and<br />
Tribal, State, local, and private sector emergency<br />
management professionals. The course is also<br />
designed to teach potential security partners about<br />
the benefits of participating in the NIPP.<br />
<strong>Course</strong> Goals<br />
Explain the criticality of protecting and ensuring<br />
the continuity of Critical Infrastructure and Key<br />
Resources (CIKR) of the United States.<br />
1. Describe how the NIPP provides the unifying<br />
structure for the integration of CIKR protection<br />
efforts into a single national program.<br />
2. Define CIKR and protection in the context of<br />
the NIPP.<br />
3. Identify the relevant authorities and roles of<br />
NIPP security partners.<br />
4. Describe how the use of the risk management<br />
framework ensures a steady state of protection<br />
within and across the CIKR sectors.<br />
5. Identify the risk management activities implemented<br />
by NIPP security partners.<br />
6. Explain how the NIPP fosters information<br />
sharing; provides guidance on the content<br />
of the CIKR protection-related aspects of<br />

homeland security plans; and helps to ensure<br />
an effective, efficient CIKR protection program<br />

Dams Sector: Crisis <strong>Management</strong> (IS-870)<br />
This is the first course in the Dams Sector web-based<br />
training series. The purpose of this series of courses<br />
is to provide owners and operators with information<br />
pertaining to security awareness, protective<br />
measures, and crisis management.<br />
This course addresses crisis management activities<br />
as an important component of an overall risk<br />
management program and provides dam and levee<br />
stakeholders with recommendations to assist in the<br />
development of various plans focused on enhancing<br />
preparedness, protection, recovery, and resilience<br />
capabilities. The training course describes the<br />
purpose and basic elements of emergency action<br />
plans, recovery plans, and continuity plans; and<br />
addresses the basic elements of an effective exercise<br />
program.<br />
Upon completion, participants will be able to:<br />
