Posting Integrated Financial <strong>Management</strong><br />

Information System (IFMIS) Transactions<br />

(E337)<br />

This course trains participants in posting financial<br />

transactions to the Integrated Financial <strong>Management</strong><br />

Information System (IFMIS). Classes are conducted<br />

using the computer laboratory at the <strong>Emergency</strong><br />

<strong>Management</strong> <strong>Institute</strong>, National <strong>Emergency</strong> Training<br />

Center, in Emmitsburg, Maryland. Participants will<br />

be instructed by an expert system user about transactions<br />

for the following: disaster assistance, travel<br />

advances, receiving reports, invoices, expenditures,<br />

approvals, reports, and more. For each type<br />

of transaction, participants will be guided through<br />

an exercise, and then given a similar exercise to<br />

perform on their own. Successful completion of the<br />

course is required before access to the system will<br />

be granted.<br />

Selection Criteria: Required for any FEMA financial<br />

staff member who needs to record transactions to<br />

the accounting system as part of his or her duties.<br />

Performance Excellence Series II—<br />

Communication and Customer Service<br />

(E526)<br />

This 4 day course is designed to provide the techniques<br />

and tools for oral and written communication<br />

necessary to meet and exceed performance expectations<br />

as a future leader. Participants are instructed in<br />

how to appropriately, accurately, and succinctly relay<br />

information at all levels. Participants learn to effectively<br />

respond to customer needs in a timely manner<br />

while setting an example of high leadership and a<br />

win-win communication style with impact.<br />

Selection Criteria: Permanent Full-Time (PFT)<br />

employees in grades GS 11/12/13. Cadre of On-call<br />

Response Employees (CORE) employees may attend<br />

on a space-available basis.<br />

Performance Excellence Series II—<br />

Representing the Agency (E527)<br />

This 4-day course is designed to provide FEMA<br />

employees with the tools and techniques for serving<br />

as positive representatives of their organization<br />

and the Agency. Participants identify their personal<br />

strengths when relating to others and how to parlay<br />

those strengths into the ability to effectively communicate<br />

viewpoints that may differ from an audience’s<br />

ideas or beliefs. Techniques are provided for crafting<br />

an External Affairs message that delivers concise,<br />

focused, and key-message points.<br />

Selection Criteria: PFT employees in grades GS<br />

11/12/13. CORE employees may attend on a spaceavailable<br />

basis.<br />

Performance Excellence Series II—<br />

Achieving Results and Teamwork (E528)<br />

This course teaches participants effective and<br />

efficient team concepts and establishes a resultsoriented<br />

approach to daily tasks and projects.<br />

Participants learn: goal setting, maximizing team<br />

diversity, prioritizing tasks, decision making, identifying<br />

and maintaining a common team goal, team<br />

leader vs. team member, and adapting to unforeseen<br />

situations. These skills with direct application to the<br />

workplace encourage high performance teams and<br />

employee empowerment.<br />

11/12/13. CORE employees may attend on a spaceavailable<br />

basis.<br />
