FEMA Information Specialist (INSP)<br />

This course provides participants with the knowledge<br />

and skills to successfully perform Information<br />

Specialist (INSP) position-specific tasks when<br />

assigned to a Joint Field Office (JFO) during an incident<br />

requiring FEMA assistance.<br />

Selection Criteria: Must be a trainee in this position<br />

(INSP) and have been issued the Position Task Book<br />

by a certifying Official, as outlined in the FEMA<br />

Qualification System (FQS).<br />

Prerequisites:<br />

Required: IS-100.b, Introduction to the Incident Command<br />

System (ICS), ICS-100; IS-200.b, Incident Command<br />

System (ICS) for Single Resources and Initial Action Incidents,<br />

ICS-200; E/B/L822, Fundamentals of <strong>Management</strong> and<br />

Support Coordination for <strong>Federal</strong> Response (Fundamentals);<br />

and proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and<br />

PowerPoint.<br />

<strong>Course</strong> Length: 3 days<br />

Orientation to Disaster Response<br />

Operations (E/L779)<br />

The 4-day (resident) and 3-day (field) courses are<br />

intended to provide participants with an orientation<br />

to disaster response and recovery operations<br />

as addressed in the current National Response<br />

Framework (NRF) with a focus on the inter-relationships<br />

among FEMA, other <strong>Federal</strong> agencies, and<br />

State/local and Tribal governments. It is usually held<br />

at the FEMA Regions for their Regional Interagency<br />

Steering Committee participants.<br />

Selection Criteria: FEMA, other <strong>Federal</strong> agency<br />

personnel who are assigned to the Joint Field Office<br />

(JFO), Regional Response Coordination Center<br />

(RRCC), National Response Coordination Center<br />

(NRCC), and other disaster facilities as well as State<br />

agency management staff.<br />

FEMA Status Check-In Recorder (SCKN)<br />

This course provides participants with the knowledge<br />

and skills to successfully perform Status<br />

Check-In Recorder (SCKN) position-specific tasks<br />

an incident requiring FEMA assistance.<br />

Selection Criteria: Must be a trainee in this position<br />

(SCKN) and have been issued the Position Task<br />

Book by a certifying Official, as outlined in FEMA<br />

Qualification System (FQS).<br />
