Mission Assignment (MA) Overview<br />
(IS-293)<br />
This course is intended to provide basic training on<br />
the concept of the Mission Assignment (MA) process<br />
beginning with the request for <strong>Federal</strong> assistance<br />
to MA issuance, execution, billing, and closeout.<br />
<strong>Course</strong> objectives include:<br />
1. Define Mission Assignments, the three types<br />
and relationship to disaster operations.<br />
2. Describe the request for <strong>Federal</strong> assistance and<br />
the Action Request Form (ARF).<br />
3. Describe the roles and responsibilities of the<br />
key staff involved in the MA Process including<br />
State, Tribal, FEMA, and other <strong>Federal</strong> agencies.<br />
4. Describe the various elements of the MA<br />
Phases from MA issuance, MA Execution to<br />
MA Billing, Reimbursement, and Closeout.<br />
Selection Criteria: The course is open to all local,<br />
State, Tribal, other <strong>Federal</strong> agency, and FEMA/DHS<br />
program and financial staff who have a role or<br />
interest in the Mission Assignment process.<br />

materials. This course is a joint sponsorship with<br />
FEMA and the Department of Energy (DOE). DOE<br />
is one of the largest shippers of radiological materials.<br />
This series of modules can be taken to refresh<br />
knowledge and skills about emergency response<br />
for any type of incident involving the shipment<br />
of radiological materials. Topics range from radiation<br />
fundamentals to public information and ICS<br />
relationships.<br />

This web-based course is designed for <strong>Federal</strong> evaluators<br />
of offsite response exercises in FEMA’s REP<br />
program. The course is a prerequisite to the L304,<br />
Radiological <strong>Emergency</strong> Preparedness (REP) Exercise Evaluation<br />
(Non-Resident) Regional Delivery, course which is delivered<br />
in the Regions. <strong>Course</strong> topics include basic
