This course provides a foundation for acquiring<br />

the tools and skills needed to install, operate, and<br />

maintain all communications systems, software, and<br />

peripheral devices, and provide customer service<br />

and support to the end-users of communications<br />

equipment and services for those new to this position.<br />

Participants completing this course will have<br />

received an in-depth outline of the tasks and procedures<br />

performed by the Information Technology<br />

(IT) Telecommunications Specialist and how to<br />

accomplish them.<br />

Selection Criteria: This course is for FEMA<br />

Telecommunications Specialists who are new to<br />

FEMA or require refresher training.<br />

FEMA Information Technology (IT)<br />

Specialist (E744)<br />

This course provides a foundation for acquiring the<br />

skills and tools needed to effectively provide the<br />

configuration and ongoing operational support of<br />

FEMA’s Information Technology (IT) enterprise for<br />

those new to this position. Subject matter includes IT<br />

Security, networking, e-mail, equipment configuration/setup,<br />

and other topics. Participants completing<br />

this course will have received an in-depth outline<br />

of the tasks and procedures performed by the IT<br />

Computer Specialist and how to accomplish them.<br />

Selection Criteria: This course is for FEMA Information<br />

Technology Specialists who are new to FEMA or<br />

require refresher training.<br />

Joint Field Office (JFO) Communications<br />

(E815)<br />

This course is designed to teach the Joint Field Office<br />

(JFO) communications standard operating procedures,<br />

the Incident Communications Annexes, and<br />

Incident Communications Plans. This instruction<br />

will assist in assuring consistency in communications<br />

planning and execution during an incident.<br />

Selection Criteria: FEMA Communications/Information<br />

Technology (IT) and Operations disaster planners<br />

and responders.<br />

Phone Book Exchange (PBX) Maintenance<br />

(E816)<br />

This 2-day class teaches the hands-on skills needed<br />

to maintain Phone Book Exchange (PBX) systems<br />

that are installed in FEMA permanent and temporary<br />

facilities. PBX equipment will be available for<br />

the hands-on training of each participant.<br />

Selection Criteria: FEMA Communications/Information<br />

Technology (IT) and Operations disaster planners<br />

and responders.<br />

Disaster Training for Information<br />

Technology (IT) Managers (E817)<br />

This is an exercise-based course for FEMA<br />

Information Technology (IT) Managers designed to<br />

test the efficacy of Joint Field Office (JFO) policies<br />

and procedures in the areas of information<br />

technology and communications. Participants are<br />

taught the current operational standards and participate<br />

in tabletop exercises designed to simulate JFO<br />

conditions.<br />

Selection Criteria: Participants must be FEMA IT<br />

Managers.<br />
