Conducting Curriculum Review<br />

Supported curriculum review for the following: ­ agriculture junior level <strong>and</strong> for 5 craft courses;<br />

reviewed the farm school curriculum.<br />

(iv) Popularizing the BTVET Act 2008<br />

The Sector developed a strategy to popularize BTVET Act 2008 as a key component in the 10 year<br />

BTVET Strategic Plan. Sensitization workshops on BTVET Act 2008 in UGAPRIVI institutions in<br />

Masaka, Lira, Mbale, Entebbe <strong>and</strong> Mpigi were conducted.<br />

In addition, the <strong>Ministry</strong> run advert in the news papers about the BTVET Act 2008 <strong>and</strong> DIT reforms in<br />

a bid to sensitize the public on the provisions <strong>of</strong> the Act.<br />

Results/outcomes<br />

Retention rates <strong>of</strong> students in Universal Post Primary BTVET institutions<br />

Like USE, Universal Post Primary <strong>Education</strong> <strong>and</strong> Training in the BTVET institutions was designed in<br />

a way that minimizes drop­out. Table 4.30 illustrates the survival rate <strong>of</strong> students enrolled under<br />

UPPET by year <strong>of</strong> study;<br />
