Organized <strong>and</strong> coordinated Secondary Schools National Athletics championship in Tororo<br />

2011, <strong>and</strong> Ball Games­ 2012, in Kabarole (April 2012) <strong>and</strong> Mbale (June 2012)respectively;<br />

Organized <strong>and</strong> facilitated ten (10) schools <strong>and</strong> tertiary institutions national sports<br />

championships.<br />

(xvii) Facilitated <strong>of</strong> national teams for international engagements.<br />

In the reporting period under review the subsector:­<br />

Facilitated the national teams to the 10 th All Africa Games Maputo;<br />

Organized <strong>and</strong> participated in the East African Secondary Schools <strong>Sports</strong> <strong>and</strong> Games<br />

Competition;, 2011 Mbarara;<br />

Support to National Universities <strong>Sports</strong> Federation for the 26 th World Universities games in<br />

Shenzhen, China;<br />

Support to Ug<strong>and</strong>a Athletics Federation for the 13 th IAAF World Championship in Athletics in<br />

Diego, South Korea.<br />

(xviii) Contributed to international Organization.<br />

The sub­sector during the review period made m<strong>and</strong>atory contributions to Supreme Council for<br />

<strong>Sports</strong> in Africa (SCSA) <strong>and</strong> World Anti­Doping Agency (WADA) <strong>and</strong> also paid participation fees for<br />

SCSA Contribution in respect <strong>of</strong> AAGs<br />

Facilitated international Bilateral agreements<strong>and</strong> other cooperation programmes.<br />

In FY 2011/12 the subsector benefited from the Germany Cooperation <strong>and</strong> other cooperation<br />

programmes in a bid to develop sports in the country in the following ways:­<br />

German Government provided an expert to train 12 Ug<strong>and</strong>an Athletics Coaches in Electronic<br />

Timer <strong>and</strong> Wind Speed Measurement;<br />

German government donated Electronic Timer <strong>and</strong> Wind Speed Measurement system to<br />

enable Ug<strong>and</strong>a to qualify athletes in sprint events for international competition;<br />

PES department also received three (3) electronic timers with up to nine (9) gauges to run<br />

national schools championships;<br />

German government sponsored one (1) sports Journalist to Germany;<br />

German government ddonated sports uniforms <strong>and</strong> twenty (21) pairs <strong>of</strong> basketball boards <strong>and</strong><br />

st<strong>and</strong>s to sports schools (centres <strong>of</strong> sports excellence);<br />

In conjunction with UAF, organised Jump Clinics in Gulu <strong>and</strong> Arua, under which programme<br />

80 grassroots athletics coaches were trained in coaching Triple jump <strong>and</strong> long jump;<br />

German Government supported Primary Kids Athletics National Championship to the tune <strong>of</strong><br />

(Ug. Shs. 20,000,000) twenty million shillings only;<br />

Five secondary schools will benefit from Japanese Volunteers this September under PES<br />

programme;<br />

ESSAPR FY 2011/12 to inform the 19 th ESSR – OCTOBER 2012
