Under BTVET subsector the following outcomes were achieved:­<br />

The main constraints <strong>and</strong> challenges under BTVET subsector were:­<br />

(i) Negative attitude towards BTVET education<br />

(ii) Expensive BTVET Equipment<br />

(iii) Inadequate funding towards BTVET education<br />

4.5.9.4 TEACHER EDUCATION/HIGHER EDUCATION SUB‐SECTOR<br />

Under the Teacher <strong>Education</strong>/Higher <strong>Education</strong> subsector the interventions that the subsector agreed<br />

to achieve are indicated in Box 4.25 below.<br />

Box 4.25 Interventions undertaken to enhance quality during FY 2011/12<br />

(i) Assessing effectiveness <strong>of</strong> CCTs to support teachers in Primary schools<br />

(ii) Assessing the level <strong>of</strong> Institutional management, adequacy <strong>of</strong> infrastructure <strong>and</strong><br />

quality <strong>of</strong> tutor preparation to teach in PTCs.<br />

(iii) Evaluate performance <strong>of</strong> CCTs in CCs<br />

Progress <strong>and</strong> Main achievements<br />

Assessing effectiveness <strong>of</strong> CCTs to support teachers in Primary schools.<br />

In FY 2011/12 the subsector carried out inspection <strong>and</strong> also established the extent to which<br />

Performance Reviews were held at the CCs <strong>and</strong> further to assess the impact <strong>of</strong> outreach tutors on the<br />

performance <strong>of</strong> teachers at the Centre.<br />

(ii)<br />

Assessing the level <strong>of</strong> Institutional management, adequacy <strong>of</strong> infrastructure <strong>and</strong> quality <strong>of</strong><br />

tutor preparation to teach in PTCs.<br />

During the reporting period under review the subsector assessed the level <strong>of</strong> Institutional<br />

management <strong>and</strong> quality <strong>of</strong> tutors in 17 teacher primary colleges that include; Kiyoora, Buhingiro,<br />

Rukindgiri, Kitabi, Bwera, Bundibugyo, Butiti, Jinja, Kaliro, Bushikho, Nazigo, Kamurasi,Christ the<br />

King, Canon Lawrence, Kabwangasi, St Marys Bukedia <strong>and</strong> Kapchorwa<br />

(iii)<br />

Evaluate performance <strong>of</strong> CCTs<br />

In order to improve teaching <strong>and</strong> learning the subsector evaluated performance <strong>of</strong> 150 CCTs in 22 CCs<br />

during the reporting period.<br />

Under Teacher/ Higher education subsector the following outcomes were achieved:­<br />
