Chinese government donated equipment, sent technical experts that renovated M<strong>and</strong>ela<br />

National Stadium in the areas <strong>of</strong> New Score Board, New Running Synthetic Tracks, Power<br />

distribution, New Lighting System, <strong>and</strong> Public Address system.<br />

Establish thirty two (32) secondary schools as centres <strong>of</strong> sports excellence sports schools.<br />

In a bid to increase access in physical education <strong>and</strong> sports in FY 2011/12 the subsector;<br />

Launched thirty two (32) government aided Secondary schools as centres <strong>of</strong> sports excellences<br />

(<strong>Sports</strong> schools)<br />

Organized orientation workshop for headteachers <strong>and</strong> physical education teachers <strong>of</strong> sports<br />

schools;<br />

Surveyed schools for establishment <strong>of</strong> PES Website.<br />

Thirty two (32) <strong>Sports</strong> schools received thirty (30) footballs each, these were a donation from<br />

Right to Play.<br />

Shimoni Core PTC <strong>and</strong> twenty (20) sports schools received each a pair <strong>of</strong> basket ball boards,<br />

st<strong>and</strong>s, <strong>and</strong> rings which were donated by the German government<br />

Participation in the MTN marathon by the MoES headquarters’ staff.<br />

In order to increase awareness, access <strong>and</strong> equity to participation in physical activity <strong>and</strong> sports,<br />

among MoES staff the subsector facilitated 537 members <strong>of</strong> staff from over 20 subsectors <strong>and</strong> units<br />

<strong>and</strong> participated in the MTN marathon as charity contribution to disadvantaged communities in<br />

Ug<strong>and</strong>a.<br />

<strong>Sports</strong> for Life in Karamoja (SLIK) project continued to create awareness <strong>and</strong> build<br />

capacity <strong>of</strong> teachers in the Karamoja sub­region.<br />

During the period under review the subsector achieved the following:­<br />

Supported the Primary schools national Ball Games 2011, to the tune <strong>of</strong> Ug<strong>and</strong>a shilling<br />

Nine Eight Million Only (98m) with support from UNICEF.<br />

Facilitated six districts under Karamoja sub­region to participate in Primary School<br />

National Ball Games­ 2011 in Tororo <strong>and</strong> Primary School National Kids Athletics<br />

Championship­ 2012 in Mbarara with support from UNICEF;<br />

512 Teachers were trained from Karamoja Sub­region in coaching <strong>of</strong> Football, Netball <strong>and</strong><br />

Volleyball under SLIK, with support from UNICEF.<br />

(xxiii) Development, <strong>and</strong> Rehabilitation <strong>of</strong> <strong>Sports</strong> facilities<br />

In order to improve physical education <strong>and</strong> sports facilities <strong>and</strong> equipment the subsector in FY<br />
