During the period under review, the subsector operationalized Ug<strong>and</strong>a Business Technical<br />
Examination Board (UBTEB) to conduct Business <strong>and</strong> Technical examinations for specialized training<br />
institutions in Ug<strong>and</strong>a.<br />
Funds were disbursed to UBTEB among others to train examination supervisors, managers, conduct<br />
<strong>and</strong> administer end <strong>of</strong> semester exams for Diploma <strong>and</strong> certificate students.<br />

Monitoring <strong>and</strong> support supervision<br />
Under development <strong>of</strong> BTVET, the sub sector embarked on monitoring <strong>and</strong> support supervision in<br />
the BTVET institutions. Thirteen (13) Institutions were monitored <strong>and</strong> support supervised. These<br />
includedAhmed seguya, Amugo Agro, Kisoro, kitgum, Kasese Youth Polytechnic, Butalejja, Bulora,<br />
Kaberamaido, Abim, Moroto, Kaabong, <strong>and</strong> Nakapiripirit. Construction works were monitored in the<br />
BTVET institutions <strong>of</strong> Omogo FS, Kakiika TS, Bukholi TS, St. Joseph’s Kyarubingo, Rukore CP,<br />
Katakwi TS, Kumi TS <strong>and</strong> Pacer CP <strong>and</strong> 11 institutions under construction together with construction<br />
management units were monitored.<br />
The subsector also supported the delivery <strong>of</strong> 12 engines for training to 4 technical institutes <strong>and</strong><br />
monitored construction <strong>of</strong> 12 TVET institutions.<br />
Twenty institutions were monitored three times <strong>and</strong> 20 site meetings held; while twelve institutions<br />
were monitored on their compliance to the set st<strong>and</strong>ards.<br />
(vii) Development Assessment <strong>and</strong> Training Packages<br />
The subsector through Directorate <strong>of</strong> Industrial Training (DIT) registered the following achievements<br />
under assessment <strong>and</strong> developing occupational st<strong>and</strong>ards;<br />
12 assessor training Facilitators <strong>and</strong> 11 Test Item Development facilitators were engaged <strong>and</strong><br />
they trained 550 assessors <strong>and</strong> 30 Test item Developers.<br />
809 assessors were deployed at 352 assessment Centres across the country <strong>and</strong> they assessed<br />
14,976 modular curricula c<strong>and</strong>idates <strong>of</strong> the second phase <strong>of</strong> nonformal training programme<br />
<strong>and</strong> 3,000 c<strong>and</strong>idates <strong>of</strong> the school leavers’ programme.<br />
Deployed 396 assessors <strong>and</strong> they assessed 1,784 c<strong>and</strong>idates for UVQF level 1 <strong>and</strong> 3,102<br />
c<strong>and</strong>idates for UVQF level 2 in 94 <strong>and</strong> 87 assessment Centres respectively.<br />
Mobilized 92 theory paper examiners to mark <strong>and</strong> grade c<strong>and</strong>idates’ performance.<br />
Issued performance transcripts to 8,231 successful c<strong>and</strong>idates <strong>of</strong> first cycle <strong>of</strong> nonformal<br />
programme.<br />
The Directorate also verified training modules for the occupation <strong>of</strong> bricklayer.DACUM <strong>and</strong><br />
TMD workshops were conducted <strong>and</strong> 5 additional ATPs <strong>of</strong> selected UVQF occupations were<br />
compiled. Additional 2 ATPs were qualitychecked <strong>and</strong> compiled.<br />
Inspected <strong>and</strong> accredited 25 additional assessment Centres, conducted 13 test item<br />
development production workshops in 6 mapped regions <strong>of</strong> the country.<br />
Developed additional 310 theory test items <strong>and</strong> 75 performance test items for the test item<br />
bank.<br />
DIT secured 19,600 hard copies <strong>of</strong> ATPs courtesy <strong>of</strong> ADB.<br />
BTVET Act 2008 sensitization trips were conducted in 4 mapped regions <strong>of</strong> the country in<br />
collaboration with UGAPRIVI regional establishments.<br />
