The micro solar protection uses the<br />

reflection properties of a special<br />

form of reflective surface. The<br />

micro sun shielding louvres, which<br />

are co<strong>at</strong>ed with ultra pure<br />

aluminium are optical elements<br />

which will be protected by a<br />

double glazing panel from exterior<br />

influences like dust or moisture.<br />

The individual louvre elements<br />

(250 mm x 200 mm) are joined<br />

together to cre<strong>at</strong>e larger units and<br />

sized for individual situ<strong>at</strong>ions.<br />

The louvre is co<strong>at</strong>ed with<br />

aluminium then immedi<strong>at</strong>ely fixed<br />

to the double glazing panel to<br />

protect it.<br />

The system integr<strong>at</strong>es<br />

imperceptibly because of the<br />

double glazing into the total<br />

architecture of the building. It<br />

conserves the dynamic n<strong>at</strong>ural<br />

daylight and guides it into the<br />

interior of the building.<br />

Principle<br />

The micro sun shielding louvre is a<br />

solar protection system with a<br />

transmission characteristic<br />

depending on the direction. The<br />

exact performance of the louvre is<br />

determined by its very carefully<br />

designed reflective surfaces. When<br />

the micro sun shielding louvre is<br />

built it is effectively closed to the<br />

south, so th<strong>at</strong> the direct sunshine<br />

from the south will be reflected<br />

back to the outside. The louvre<br />

apertures are towards the north;<br />

the intensive zenith light and the<br />

diffuse incident daylight from all<br />

other directions reach almost<br />

unhindered into the interior.<br />

The micro solar protection louvre reflects the unwanted direct light from the wrong direction<br />

(here : red) and lets the remaining diffuse light (here : white) through.
