On conventional downlights there can be excessive force on the
ceiling ring due to unbalanced gear boxes and connecting
cables. In many cases this results in a slight gap between the
ceiling ring and the ceiling itself. This has a negative effect on
the appearance of the installation. Products with a separate
gear box such as Lunis® and Lunis_E downlights have only the
reflector system’s weight to be supported by the ceiling. The
separate gearbox can be installed in a variety of different places
around the reflector. Obstructions in the ceiling void such as air
conditioning ducts, sprinkler systems or electrical cabling can be
easily avoided. These can sometimes interfere with the
planning and installation of the luminaires.

The complete Lunis® product range has only two different
diameter sizes. Within one diameter range there is practically
the complete product line with different optical characteristics
and wattages available. To follow modern trends the aesthetic
appearance of all the luminaires can remain the same despite
different lighting characteristics in one room. Therefore easy
changes to the optical systems can be carried out and a higher
flexibility of planning and installation is given.
This applies also to the upgrades of the optical decorative
accessories which can be done without using tools. Suspended
glass diffusers and cover glasses can be easily fitted to the
luminaire with three clips attached to the mounting ring. Even
simpler is the change over of the extreme wide beam luminaire
(5LR 114…) with the turbo- or cross-louvre attachment, which
has a patented quick fit system. The modular installation is
split into three components and ensures that the delicate
reflector only needs to be handled once and this is at the end of
the installation when the construction work has finished and
the room has been cleaned. The fitting of the reflector does not
require any tools. Until such time, the reflector remains in a
separate safe air cushioned package. Lunis® and Lunis_E allow
the delivery of single components according to the buildings
progress. For example, the installation of the mounting ring by
the ceiling installer may be the first step. The multiple
combinations with the numerous optical accessories, mounting
possibilities and control gear options ensure that Lunis®, due to
its flexibility and very high product quality is convincing value
for money.
