Refurbishment
Saving is affordable
“We have not got enough money for such
investments”. A statement, which is always
being heard, but with the right concept it
will be easily refutable. The concept is called
light contracting, including the dismantling
and disposal of the old equipment, the
delivery and installation of the new
equipment, up to the refinancing of all
service. Light contracting consists of five
modules: the financing and dismantling of
the equipment, the disposal, the delivery and
installation and also the maintenance. These
modules can be used singly or in
combination. In effect it is a lease with
optional purchase, while the equipment
turns directly into capital assets. The size of
the power saving, will be seen from the
economy calculation. This saving will be
used for the refinancing of the equipment.
This means that lighting systems can be
financed without additional costs or with
low invested capital.
Refurbishment pays off
In many work areas you will still find
completely obsolete lighting systems.
Yellowed diffusers or louvres, uneconomic
lamps and control gear increase the
pollution of the environment in the work
place and result in a high power cost.
Investment in new lighting equipment
reduces the energy consumption and
therefore the budget.
System savings
The 3 level program was developed to save
energy. It is useful for efurbishment as well
as new designs. Beginning with the
following basis:
Lighting equipment 12 to 15 years old,
louvred luminaires: maintenance and
cleaning work were not carried out.
Conventional control gear with T12 lamps is
installed.
1st level:
30 % less power costs
This goal will reached by installing louvred
luminaires with low-loss control gear and T8
lamp technology. The luminaires have higher
efficiency, glare free light and provide
suitability for VDU area use.
2nd level:
60% less power costs
If new electronic control gear is integrated
with the louvred luminaires, it is possible to
save up to 20% additional energy, because
the HF gear increases the light output
compared to conventional control gear for
the same power consumption. In addition,
the ballasts are kinder to the lamps and
increase the life expectancy by almost 50%.
The maintenance intervals and disposal
costs are therefore reduced. A further energy
saving of up to 10% is possible by using the
new T5 lamps.

3rd level:
80% less power costs
Less energy is needed during the day than
the is given by the lighting system at
maximum output. Therefore, the energy
consumption may be further lowered by
daylight linked dimming using light sensors
and HF-dimming ballasts. The advantage:
artificial light adapts to the daylight, the
desired lighting level is kept constant under
all conditions.
