Recessed downlights for
compact fluorescent lamps
Recessed downlights for
compact fluorescent lamps
are the most widely used
luminaires to illuminate
modern architectural rooms.
With Lunis® there is a product
range available which offers a
high flexibility and due to its
modular design, a user
friendly luminaire. The use of
high quality material, an
intelligent concept and expert
manufacturing achieves an
excellent performance for this
product line which gives it a
reputation of best value for
money.
The Lunis® product concept is embodied in its modular nature,
each downlight being composed of three separate components.
1) The reflector is the only visible element of the luminaire and
this determines both the aesthetic appearance and the visual
comfort. This is the reason why the reflectors in the Lunis®
range are made out of pure aluminium (99,98%). In
combination with a wide decorative reflector flange as well as a
precisely calculated optical system, this is the guarantee for a
high performance and a modern appearance.
For common applications in offices, public and retail areas single
or twin lamp luminaires with wide-beam characteristic (5LR
112…) are commonly used. The reflector systems have been
manufactured to achieve a low glare factor according to
BAP60/Cat.2. For ceilings with a shallow void depth, downlights
with a recessed depth of 115mm are available, which have a
wider beam characteristic (5LR 114…). As an additional option,
turbo louvres or cross baffles can be attached in order to achieve
glare limitation complying with BAP60/Cat.2. Downlights with
narrow beam characteristic (5LR 111…) are ideally suited to
highlight room characteristics, to be used in rooms with high
ceilings and fulfil the requirements necessary for installation in
open ceiling systems.
2) The interface between the reflector and the ceiling is a steel
mounting ring. This mounting ring has three push-out tabs on
the outside, to give a reliable ceiling fit. On the inside, there are
three springs for the tool free installation of the reflector
system.
3) The third component is the electrical unit, which includes all
the luminaire’s electrical components. The lampholders are
mounted on a plug – on device, which is linked to the gearbox
via a cable approximately 50cm long.
Irrespective of the wattage or the type of control gear the
electrical unit remains a constant size. The gearbox is either laid
into the ceiling void area or suspended from the ceiling.
The gearbox can be fitted with switchstart, high frequency or
high frequency dimming gear (1-10V).
