Fazer de um fato notíciaimplica que o jornalista, além de relatá-lo, interprete-o, transformando-o em umacontecimento significativo. Entre objetividade e subjetividade há uma gradação: épossível ser mais ou menos subjetivo, mais ou menos objetivo, mas não é possívelser totalmente um ou outro. Para verificar esse processo, foram analisados os verbospresentes em trechos de notícias sobre política extraídas de jornais impressos. Osresultados sugerem que há expressiva carga de subjetividade no tratamento de fatospor parte da imprensa jornalística.Palavras-chave: Escolhas lexicais. Objetividade. Subjetividade.AbstractThis paper aims to think about effects of lexical choices in objectivity, aspect thatis desired by the journalistic world. When the journalist turns a fact into news, hegoes beyond relate the fact, he makes an interpretation of it. There is some gradationbetween objectivity and subjectivity: it is possible to be more or less objective, moreor less subjective, but it is impossible to be one or another totally. In order to verifythis proccess, verbs were analysed from a sample of printed news about politics.
