by installing most roofs with a high solar
reflective index or green roofs or by providing
50% of impervious site landscape with
shade, paving with a high solar reflective
index or open grid paving. (1 point)
• Microclimate: the best score is for having a posi-
tive effect, or good score for a no or little effect
on the microclimate. Poor scores are given for
compromising fresh air currents through the
site and surrounding area. Weight: 5.0%
Solar Orientation • Solar orientation achieved by orientating
blocks north-south or by or orientating
buildings east-west. (1 point)

• GCT CR: Provide on-site energy generation
for at least 5% of the project’s electrical
and/or thermal load. (1 point)

• For renewable energy options, better scores are
given when the plan area is more suitable for
renewable energy and poor scores when it is
