General Termsand ConditionsLocation, start and duration ofcourses:The 2 nd semester 2010 is scheduled torun from Monday, 30th August 2010,to Friday, 17th December 2010 (14weeks).You canregisterfor thecoursesin person atone of the branchesof the Volkshochschule (please noteour opening hours), in writing (letter,fax, email) orvia the Internet assoonas the course catalogue is available.Special conditions concerning the registrationfor field trips and excursionsareannounced separately.Unlessotherwisestated, lectures and courseslast two class hours (90minutes).Holiday break:-Monday, 11 th October, toFriday 22ndOctober 2010 (Autumn break)-Monday, 1st th November 2010 (AllSaints’ Day)Please take notice of special announcementsconcerning courses offeredduring holidays. Individual classsessions that are cancelled (e.g. dueto illness) will bemade upfor.Sections of the programme andcourse numbers:The course programme ofthe Volkshochschuleis structured accordingto the different departments. You willfind all courses offered by the Volkshochschulein the respective sectionof the programme (see table ofcontents).Thecourses are numbered accordingtothe different departmentsand topics.Who may participate?Anyone at least 15years of age andwho has registered correctly is entitledto participate in courses at theVolkshochschule.Youngerparticipantscan only beadmitted in duly justifiedcases.The admission tospecific courses canbe subject to requirements such asthe attendance of other courses. Insome courses, the number of participantscan be limited given the natureof the course or the capacity of theVolkshochschule. Any registration forand participation in courses at theVolkshochschule is regulated underprivate law; the General Terms andConditions (fees, house rules etc.) arepart of the contract.How to register for courses at theVolkshochschule:•Choose acourse•Feel free toconsult the Volkshochschulefor information oradvice•Read the General Terms and Conditionscarefully•Fill in the registration form and eithersend it to the Volkshochschule(by post orfax) orturn itinatone ofthe branches ofthe Volkshochschulebefore the start of the course•Attend the course (as long as theVolkshochschule does not explicitlyreject the registration orcancel thecourse)•In case you do not authorize theVolkshochschule to withdraw thefees from your bank account: Pleasemake payment (transfer) ofcoursefees through the Sparkasse Bonnor other financial institutions (dueby the 2nd day of regular eveningclasses and a week before thecourse in case of weekend seminarsrespectively). The Volkshochschuledoes not issue invoices except uponrequest (for companies).•A deregistration is only possiblein writing to the Volkshochschule.Please note the following generaldeadlines for deregistration (andspecific deadlines announced in thecourse programme respectively):by the 2nd day of course instructionin the case ofregular eveningclasses with more than 10 sessions,one week inadvance in the case ofone-day, weekend and one-weekintensive seminars aswell asregularevening classes with fewer than10 sessions, ten days in advancefor courses offered in the section“Creative Design” and a fortnightin advance for so-called „Bildungsurlaube“(one-week seminars forparticipants entitled to educationalleave).ItisNOT possible to deregisterfrom acourse intalking or writingtothe course instructor.Registration:Youshould register foracourseatleastfivedaysbeforethe course starts.TheVolkshochschule does not accept provisionalregistrations. It is NOT possibletoattend individual course sessionsasso-called “trial lessons”.Youmay register for asmany coursesas you like. It is possible to register forand attend acourse after it has started(please contact the respective departmentfor information and advice).The Volkshochschule reserves itsright to postpone, relocate and cancelcourses. Ifyou are pregnant, sufferfrom back or knee injuries or otherphysical impediments you should consultadoctor before attending coursesoffered by the Department ofHealth,Sports and Nutrition.The registration for and participationin field trips and excursions are subjectto special regulations (see GeneralTerms and Conditions for Field Tripsand Excursions).Fees and payment:Fees (except those for lectures,courses in alphabetization and lowlevelGerman courses) include aregistration/deregistration fee of €6.10(onwhich no discount can begiven).The costs for material used in class(such as course books, photocopiesetc.) are not included inthe fees; insome cases (e.g. photocopies), suchadditional costs may be agreed uponwith the course instructor. The fee foreach individual ccourse atthe Volkshochschuleis listed in the courseprogramme. The participant or legalguardian is liable for paying the fee.Fees for courses are due by the 2ndday ofinstruction and aweek inadvancein case of weekend seminarsrespectively (see above). The Volkshochschuledoes not issue invoicesexcept upon request (for companies).If you authorize the Volkshochschuleto charge your account, fees will bewithdrawn from your account whendue, i.e. when it is clear that enoughparticipants have registered for thecourse and that it will take place.
