8.4 Summary <strong>and</strong> fur<strong>the</strong>r research<br />

In this chapter, I have examined certain acoustic properties <strong>of</strong> Mono with <strong>the</strong><br />

primary aim <strong>of</strong> supporting <strong>the</strong> transcription <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> sound system I have proposed. In<br />

addition, I have also discussed how <strong>the</strong>se properties compare to similar properties in<br />

o<strong>the</strong>r languages.<br />

On this latter point, I have only scratched <strong>the</strong> surface. There is much more that<br />

could be looked at in considering how <strong>the</strong> phonetic properties <strong>of</strong> Mono relate to cross-<br />
