B<strong>and</strong>a-Bambari [LIY] (Central African Republic). Tisserant (1930, 1931) (Linda,<br />

Gbwende, Djyoeto, Ngapu, <strong>and</strong> Ndokpwa dialects), Cloarec-Heiss (1967, 1978, 1986)<br />

(Linda dialect) <strong>and</strong> Moñino (1988) (Linda dialect) attest a labiodental flap in B<strong>and</strong>a-<br />

Bambari. Marcel Diki-Kidiri (per. comm.) notes that a bilabial variant is possible.<br />

Cloarec-Heiss (1967) provides contrasts between <strong>the</strong> labiodental flap <strong>and</strong> o<strong>the</strong>r<br />

labial consonants. She reports <strong>the</strong> following words: =(LH=( =(LH=( ‘force’, LH LH LH LH ‘round’, LE LE ‘throw’,<br />

<strong>and</strong> L= L= ‘send’.<br />

B<strong>and</strong>a-B<strong>and</strong>a [BPD] (Central African Republic, Sudan). Tisserant (1931) reports<br />

a labiodental flap in B<strong>and</strong>a-B<strong>and</strong>a, Belingo, Ndi, Gbaga, Mbi, <strong>and</strong> Buru, all dialects <strong>of</strong><br />

B<strong>and</strong>a-B<strong>and</strong>a.<br />

B<strong>and</strong>a-Mbrès [BQK] (Central African Republic). Tisserant (1931) reports a<br />

labiodental flap in Moruba, Wada, Mbele, <strong>and</strong> Sabanga, all dialects <strong>of</strong> B<strong>and</strong>a-Mbrès.<br />

B<strong>and</strong>a-Ndélé [BFL]. (Sudan, Central African Republic). Sampson (1985) reports<br />

a labiodental flap in <strong>the</strong> Tangbago dialect <strong>of</strong> B<strong>and</strong>a-Ndélé. Moñino (1988) reports <strong>the</strong><br />

sound in <strong>the</strong> Ngao dialect. Sampson provides contrast with o<strong>the</strong>r labial sounds in both<br />

word-initial <strong>and</strong> intervocalic positions. He provides examples <strong>of</strong> both nouns <strong>and</strong> verbs<br />

containing <strong>the</strong> sound: L= L= ‘fight, split’, =LC =LC =LC =LC ‘wall plate’, =(L=( =(L=( ‘fighting’, L L L L ‘send’, LE<br />

LE<br />

‘throw’.<br />

B<strong>and</strong>a-Yangere [YAJ] (Central African Republic). Richardson (1957) <strong>and</strong><br />

Moñino (1988) report a labiodental flap in B<strong>and</strong>a-Yangere. Moñino attests it in <strong>the</strong> words<br />

B<strong>and</strong>a, Mid-Sou<strong>the</strong>rn [BJO] (Central African Republic, D.R. Congo). A labial<br />

flap is reported in Mid-Sou<strong>the</strong>rn B<strong>and</strong>a by Tisserant (1931) (Bongo, Wasa, Yakpwa,<br />

Mono, <strong>and</strong> Ngobu dialects), Cloarec-Heiss (1978) (Ngundu, Gobu, Kpagua, <strong>and</strong> Yakpa<br />
