<strong>ITALY</strong> - 4 Wastewater<br />

C4.3.1.9.1. Antimony, arsenic, barium, beryllium, boron, chromium, cobalt,<br />

copper, lead, molybdenum, nickel, selenium, silver, tellurium, thallium, tin, titanium, uranium,<br />

vanadium, or zinc<br />

C4.3.1.9.2. Biocides and their derivatives not previously listed<br />

C4.3.1.9.3. Substances that have noxious effects on the taste or odor of products<br />

for human consumption derived from the water environment, as well as any compound that may<br />

give origin to such substances in water<br />

C4.3.1.9.4. Toxic or persistent organosilicate compounds and that may give origin<br />

to such compounds in water, except for substances that are biologically non-harmful or that<br />

quickly become non-harmful in water<br />

C4.3.1.9.5. Inorganic compounds of phosphorous<br />

C4.3.1.9.6. Non-persistent mineral oils and hydrocarbons<br />

C4.3.1.9.7. Cyanides and fluorides<br />

C4.3.1.9.8. Substances that negatively affect the oxygen equilibrium, in particular,<br />

ammonia and nitrites<br />

C4.3.1.10. Veneto Region. Discharge to soil of the following substances is additionally<br />

prohibited in the Veneto Region:<br />

C4.3.1.10.1. Organohalogenated compounds<br />

C4.3.1.10.2. Organophosphorus compounds<br />

C4.3.1.10.3. Organostannic compounds<br />

C4.3.1.10.4. Phosphorous pesticides<br />

C4.3.1.10.5. Substance and mixtures, including relevant decomposition<br />

products, demonstrated to be carcinogenic, mutagen, teratogen or that can have effects on<br />

endocrine functions<br />

C4.3.1.10.6. Mineral and persistent oils<br />

C4.3.1.10.7. Mercury, cadmium, cyanides, chromium VI and their compounds<br />

C4.3.1.10.8. These substances are considered absent when they are not detected<br />

at concentrations above their analytical method detection limit.<br />

C4.3.1.11. Wastewater Monitoring. Monitoring requirements apply to all regulated<br />

facilities. The monitoring frequency (including both sampling and analysis) is provided in Table<br />

4.2-b for BOD5, TSS, and pH, and in Table 4.2-a for COD, Total Phosphorus (if discharged to<br />

sensitive areas), and Total Nitrogen (if discharged to sensitive areas).<br />
